These are all different programs which the Cincinnati Music and Arts Program offers. Our goal is to create more programs to expose students to different varieties of musical ranges. Certain students are selected to participate in each program and some students are required to participate in more than one.

 

Activities/Lessons of Summer Camp:

 June 10, 2024 - August 17, 2024 Monday - Friday 9am till 4pm

The students will exercise, learn professional performance, musicality, and range.

Learn to play and memorize their music

 

How to play Horns:

Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Mellophone, Trombone, Baritone, Sousaphone

You will learn: 12 Major Scales, read sheet music, site-read sheet music, learn solo piece,

 

How to play Percussion:

Snare Drum, Bass Drum, Tenor/Tom Drum, Bells/Glockenspiel, Marimbas, Cymbals

You will learn: 40 American Rudiments, read sheet music, site-read sheet music, learn solo piece

 

Summer Band Camp Schedule/Itinerary

9:10 – 10:05 Calisthenics

10:10 – 10:35 Breathing Technics

10:40 – 11:05 Rehearsal (warm-up)

11:10 – 12:05 Music Instructional Session

12:10 – 12:40 Lunch

12:45 – 12:55 Calisthenics

1:00 – 1:30 Sectionals

1:35 – 2:00 Breathing Technics

2:05 – 2:25 Break

2:30 – 4:00 Dismissal

 

Musical Benefits:

Have an excellent performance and to receive a max scholarship for college

 

Activities/Lessons of Fall Before and After-School Program:

These activities are use as incentives by the school to help encourage students to stay in school, love music, pursue college scholarships, and music education. These bands will participate in Jamborees, community and college parades.

 

Events such as:

Stop the Violence Rally

Black Family Reunion Parade

Westwood/Cheviot Harvest Home Parade

Central State University Homecoming Parade

Kentucky State University Homecoming Parade

 

These Bands are also the live entertainment for Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy Football Game and the Ohio Kings ABA Professional Basketball Game Half-time Shows.

 

Prices and Fees:

The $1000.00 fee covers:                                                                                                                                                                                        Summer Band Camp - June thru August                                                                                                                                                                musical instruments - use/maintenance/repairs                                                                                                                                                Summer uniforms - t-shirts, black shorts, and white shoes, etc.                                                                                                                            lunch, afternoon snacks, water                                                                                                                                                                              and other music materials

School year season practice months and times: August 19, 2024 – May 26, 2025 4:00pm – 6:30pm

 

These activities are use as incentives by the school to help encourage students to stay in school, love music, pursue college scholarships, and music education. These bands will participate in concerts.

100+ African American Men’s Chorus Winter Concert (December)

The Martin Luther King Jr. Winter Concert (January)

Black History Program (February)

Mother’s Day Jazz Concert (May)

Key Deliverables:

Develop and maintain an effective instrumental music education for the students of the marching band

Schedule daily classes to instruct and rehearse within the assigned time

Understand the potentials and skills of each student and guild individual student according to their skills

Evaluate student performances and provide feedback and assistance to improve their musical skills
